THE SHADOW

The Shadow as an open brief from Studio Yukiko, built around the question of what can be carried by a person without leaving a physical trace.

An experimental short film exploring the shadow as a reflection of the inner self and the way we interact with it.

"How can an abstract idea become something people can emotionally experience?

We often treat the parts of ourselves that we don't fully understand as something to hide."

I developed the film from storyboard to final execution, maintaining control over the visual identity and conceptual direction while collaborating with a small team to bring the idea to life.

"What if we stopped seeing the shadow as something behind us and started seeing it as part of us?"

I translated the idea of the shadow as an inner self into a physical relationship between a person and their shadow.

The film gradually explores this relationship through light, darkness, distance, movement and physical interaction, allowing the shadow to become almost like another character.

Visually, the film moves between isolation and connection, creating a sense of confrontation, curiosity and eventual acceptance.
